Remembering to Write Your Name on Your Paper
In my classroom I try to “Make it Real!” So…..lets get started!
How many times during the day do you have to remind your little kiddos to write their name on their paper?
After spending 5 years in a 6th grade classroom and now starting my 5th year in a Kindergarten classroom, I realize it is still the same……some of them forget!

So now, instead of saying over and over, “Remember, write your name on your paper,” I sing a little song!

(In the video below you also hear me giving them our “uncap” your pen instructions. Sometimes we write with pens, and this is a way to control the excitement of writing before we are all ready.)
This song gives them a physical, kinesthetic, and auditory reminder to write their name. And best of all, they sing with me. My kids love it!
We also add in a little game. If they can get their name on their paper before I finish the song, they get to put a jewel in our jewel jar.
