Quiet Dice in Action
I’m back with another cheap and easy idea for another one of those pesky classroom problems!
I love using dice in my classroom!
We play dice games, we have dice centers and math tubs! They are cheap and fun tools.
But they are so NOISY!
That noise is one of things that makes me want to scream and run from my classroom. Never mind the dice zipping and zooming across the classroom floor.
It’s almost enough to make you want to stop using dice. Almost.

And then there was a solution. A basket. Some felt. A hot glue gun. And no more dice noise.

Creating these teacher sanity savers is simple.
You need some baskets. I purchased mine for $1.20 for a set of three at a local dollar store.

You need sheets of felt. I got mine for 99 cents per sheet at the local craft store.
And a hot glue gun.

I placed the felt sheet in the basket and used a marker to mark the size. I cut the felt to size and glued it to the bottom of the basket. And that’s it.
It’s really that simple.

The dice are contained in the basket so they’re not flying all over the room. They’re rolling on felt so there is no more dice noise.
The teacher is happy and students are using this awesome math tool a lot more!
