Popsicle Stick Pattern Cards Sampler Freebie!

So, here is a super short and simple one – only 4 minutes long!

“Hi, everyone! Charity Preston here from the Organized Classroom blog.

I hope you are fantastic and wonderful today. Today we’re going to be doing a fun little project. And I think it’s just super adorable.

I can see you incorporating it into a K through probably third or fourth grade classroom.

You are going to need colored wide craft sticks, you are also going to need Velcro dots, and then some kind of box to put the materials in.

Then it’s so easy.

Take the craft sticks and you’re going to put the Velcro dots that have the adhesive on the back, right on either side on those sides. Now I do have the wooden Popsicle sticks or I do have foam ones too.

You have all your sticks in a box ready to go, and then have the students maybe have a bunch of them, or even in groups or whatever you want to do, and they can create things with them.

It will obviously depend on your grade level as to what they’re making.

So maybe in a younger grade level, they’re creating letters.

Maybe in a third grade classroom, they’re making geometric shapes.

Whatever works for you is perfect. Even patterning is going to work as well.

Here’s my fancy little craft book I have inside the box. I have a key ring with cards and then all my sticks.

You’ll have them all in there. This can be set right at the center and inside.

There are nine cards in the pack for free.

Example: just create an open figure. If you’re dealing with third graders, even second graders that need to learn that math terminology such as open figure or a closed figure, these cards will be perfect.

This one is show me a closed figure. Once the students know what the math vocabulary means, it would be so easy for them to do that.

Then you’ve also of course, got a free choice. They can make whatever they want for the free choice.

This one is a little bit trickier using six sticks. Two of each color create a figure where each color is parallel to itself. So obviously it’s going to be a six-sided hexagon and the opposite sides will be parallel to each other and they will be the same color.

But really they think about some of those things make a symmetrical figure.

These are just some ones probably for second, third grade, but I did also include a blank card in the set. So that way, if you are a kindergarten or first grade teacher, you can customize your cards as well.

Then when the students are finished at the center or at a table, they are simply going to open up their box and put everything back in the box and it is cleaned up in a snap.

And it’s ready to go for the next day for the center.

Very little prep work for you and even less cleanup.

Feel free to laminate the cards that I’ve provided below.

You can write right on top of a lamination for the blank ones. You can make as many as you like, and they’ll last from year to year.
